3 Historic Restaurants near Conshohocken

Did you know several local restaurants have served hungry diners for generations? These locally owned restaurants keep patrons coming back for their delicious food, friendly service, and old-town charm.

Visit one of these restaurants near our Spring Mill apartments to take a culinary journey back in time:

McGillin's Olde Ale House

McGillin's opened its doors in 1860, the same year Lincoln was elected president. It survived the Civil War and Prohibition and is one of the country's oldest continuously operating taverns. The restaurant's always packed on game day, and the specials aren't to be missed. The dining room features a cozy, old-world feel, a stone fireplace, and a wall adorned with every liquor license since 1871. Popular menu offerings include the Mile High meatloaf, German sausage, and shepherd's pie.

Tacconelli's Pizzeria

A Philadelphia fixture since 1921, Tacconelli's was originally a bakery. Giovanni Tacconelli began making pizzas in his handmade oven after World War II. They quickly became a local favorite. Today, the chefs carry on Giovanni's tradition of baking pies with a sprinkling of cheese and tons of sauce. The staff offers fast, friendly service. They recommend calling ahead to reserve your dough, and toppings include pepperoni, sausage, and mushroom.

McNally's Tavern

When McNally's opened in 1921, it was one of the only establishments where working men were welcome in the prestigious Chestnut Hill neighborhood. Word of Rose McNally's delicious fare soon spread, and she moved the restaurant to a larger location six years later. When the single coach light is on, you'll know the meals are piping hot, and the beer is flowing. For dinner, try the Schmitter. This one-of-a-kind sandwich is dubbed the ultimate cheesesteak and is a favorite among Philadelphia's professional athletes.
