The Longwood Gardens Welcomes More Than One Million Visitors Every Year

Whether you want to watch the sunset, smell fragrant flowers, or dine under the stars, head to theLongwood Gardens.

It sits on the land that was once home to the native Lenni Lenape tribe and Quaker farmers, and more than one million people visit every year.

Highlights include:

Italian Water Garden

The Italian Water Garden dates back to 1927, and it features simple color tones, blue-tiled fountains, and sparkling water. It's similar to the garden found at the Villa Gamberaia near Florence, Italy, and bloom highlights include dawn redwoods and aromatic asters.

Peirce's Woods

Spanning seven acres, Peirce's Woods highlights the ornamental characteristics of the eastern deciduous forest. Surrounded by towering oak and maple trees, the woods are colorful in the fall, and the area also features 10,000 plants rescued from a North Carolina mountain before highway construction.

Acacia Passage

Constructed between 1919 and 1921, Acacia Passage offers an array of cinnamon wattle Acacia leprosa trees arched over the walkway. In late January and early February, they're spotted with fragrant yellow flowers, and other blooms include caladium and hydrangeas.

Rose Garden

Journey back to the 20th century to see the typical arrangements and architectural elements of the era's rose gardens. Roses include large-flowered climber, hybrid tea, and Floribunda.

Beer Garden

At the Beer Garden, guests can dine outdoors with their family and friends. It offers attentive service and is complete with mature trees, twinkling lights, and live music on the weekends. The menu includes pizzas such as pepperoni and Kennett Square mushroom, which can be enjoyed with beers such as Prima Pils, Stella Artois, and Guinness Stout.
