Visit Philadelphia's New Fashion District

Not far from our Spring Mill apartments, the Fashion District is Philadelphia's newest shopping, dining, and entertainment destination. This monumental 800,000 square-foot complex just opened in September.

The Fashion District draws visitors from coast to coast with highlights including:

AMERICAN HATS

At one time, Philadelphia was home to dozens of hat factories in the 1920s. The city's lone millinery to survive this period was the S & S Hat Company. Today, it's known as American Hats. Owner Georgiette Morgan-Thomas loves seeing people bring back hats as a part of everyday fashion. She offers tips on how to wear them and helps both men and women find the right style. Choices include felt, derby, and fedora.

YARDS BREWING CO.

When college friends Tom and Jon began brewing beer for their friends, they had no idea that it was the start of a brewery. Yard Brewing is nationally recognized for its ales and produces nine year-round offerings and seasonal releases. Guests enjoy the fun, casual atmosphere, and everyone is invited to pull up a chair and stay awhile. Brews include Brawler, Love Stout, and Cape of Good Hope.

PHILLY PRETZEL FACTORY

Born in Philadelphia, the Philly Pretzel Factory began from humble beginnings in a small storefront. Founder Dan Dizio sold pretzels in his neighborhood as a young boy, and after college, he partnered with a friend to achieve his lifelong dream. The hand-twisted pretzels are made fresh throughout the day using a few simple ingredients. They're best enjoyed with the house-made dips such as brownie batter, spicy hot mustard, and melted cheddar cheese.
